      SoberdayLA Walk-A-Thon & Festival

      On Sunday April 26th, 2009, thousands of residents of the San Fernando Valley sat along side Van Nuys Blvd., ready for the 6 annual Panorama City/ Van Nuys Spring Parade.  Parade watcher saw, marching bands, Spanish horses, clowns, belly dancer, low rider cars and the list goes on.  One parade watcher  said "its so nice to see all these different types of people coming together to share this positive message of sobriety."

      Rachel Cosmic founder, CEO and Director for the nonprofit organization called Soberlink, has created this event to promote community involvement, cultural awareness, and substance abuse, violence free living.  Soberlink works hard all year long, helping those who are recovering from substance abuse, and who face the hardships of life.

      After the parade over a thousand people visited the Soberdayla festival held at the civic center where the parade ends.  The festival site had booths from local businesses and nonprofit organizations.  Adelphia the title sponsor had many give-a-ways and was showing the community the benefits of cable.

     The festival also had it's famous entertainment stage.  At the music stage, city officials spoke and were presented  awards for their participation and support.  Throughout the day, bands, belly dancers and folkclorico dancers entertained the festival attendees. 

     Congratulations to Rachel Cosmic and all her volunteer support team.  The entire parade and festival is supported and coordinated by volunteers.  In addition we like to thank those city officials who make this event possible.

  Sober Day LA is an outreach program, to create awareness about the issues of substance abuse and violence in our communities.
   Sober Day LA walkathon has taken place for the last 16 years. Sober Link a non profit organization which sponsors walkers from different recovery homes and programs is the host organization, producing the event. Some participants receive credit for the hours and some just do it for support and a service to the community. The community also participates to support the program.

Please fill out the application and attach a entry fee of $40.00 if you are a school or club, church or non profit agency. 
For  Business entries the fee is $100.00 to sponsor.
Ge your application in early. 
After 5/1/12, the non-profit entry will be $50.00
and the Business enrtry fee will be $125.00.
