On Sunday April 27th, 2008, thousands of residents of the San Fernando Valley sat along side Van Nuys Blvd., ready for the 3rd annual Panorama City/ Van Nuys Spring Parade. Parade watcher saw, marching bands, Spanish horses, clowns, belly dancer, low rider cars and the list goes on. One parade watcher said "its so nice to see all these different types of people coming together to share this positive message."
Rachel Cosmic founder, CEO and Director for the nonprofit organization called Soberlink, has created this event to promote community involvement, cultural awareness, and drug and alcohol free living. Soberlink works hard all year long, helping those who are recovering from substance abuse, and who face the hardships of life.
After the parade over a thousand people visited the Soberdayla festival held at the civic center where the parade finishes. The festival site had booths from local businesses and nonprofit organizations. Adelphia the title sponsor had many give-a-ways and was showing the community the benefits of cable.
The festival also had it’s famous entertainment stage. At the music stage, city officials spoke and were presented awards for their participation and support. Throughout the day, bands, belly dancers and folkclorico dancers entertained the festival attendees.
Congratulations to Rachel Cosmic and all her volunteer support team. The entire parade and festival is supported and coordinated by volunteers. In addition we like to thank those city officials who make this event possible.
